Minecraft Dungeons II went on sale on September 29 at 8:00 UTC on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Switch and Switch 2, and on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. On the morning of September 30, Steam's top-sellers list put it first among games, behind only Valve's own Steam Frame and Steam Machine hardware.
Steam alone peaked at 32,476 concurrent players on launch day, and still had about 17,000 playing at 06:00 UTC the next morning, a European early-morning low. Those are Steam figures only: Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and Game Pass players are not counted, and Mojang has not published sales.

What players complain about
The negative reviews concentrate on two things. First, movement is click-to-move only on keyboard and mouse: there is no WASD option, and creative director Måns Olson said before launch that the team knows players want it but that it does not map to a gamepad as naturally; nothing has been announced. Second, the PC version asks for a Microsoft account link, and errors 0029, 0060 and 0064 stopped some players at sign-in.
On Steam Deck and other Linux devices the game does not start yet: it depends on Microsoft Game Services, which fails under Proton. Mojang had not released a patch or a statement on any of these issues by the morning of September 30.
