Minecraft Dungeons II is playable for the first time at gamescom 2026

Xbox has confirmed that Minecraft Dungeons II is playable at gamescom 2026, which runs from August 26 to August 30 in Cologne. The game sits in Hall 7, booth A-0.61, and Xbox's own line-up post frames it as the chance to "play Minecraft Dungeons II for the first time" — making this the first public hands-on with the sequel, roughly a month before it releases on September 29.

Until now, every substantial look at the game has come through Mojang and Xbox's own channels: the Minecraft Live reveal, the June gameplay showcase and the Xbox Wire hands-on written by Xbox staff. A show-floor build is different in kind. It is the first time people outside that pipeline can put hands on the game and describe it in their own words.

Xbox's description of the demo stays deliberately broad: "Drop your pickaxe and grab a sword (and a friend) because the foes are tougher than ever – but the loot is worth the battle." That line points at co-op and loot, both already confirmed, but it does not say which mission, which biome or which portion of the campaign the demo covers.

For anyone tracking the game's unknowns, this is the most likely moment for the itemisation blanks to start filling in. Weapon, armor, artifact, talisman and enchantment names have never been published, and a playable build is where such details usually surface first. Nothing is promised, though — a demo can just as easily use placeholder gear or lock the loadout entirely.
